Doesn’t matter the sport, everyone wants to be fast. Unfortunately, not everyone is, but everyone can surely get faster. This comes down to a few key principles, and it’s not just about running a faster 30, 40 or 60 yard dash. Getting fast is first and foremost about getting strong. The more horsepower an athlete has, the more force he is able to put into the ground to get his body moving quickly. We can teach running mechanics all we want but if there is limited power being put into the ground on each stride it’s pointless.

Baseball is an explosive sport and it’s all about moving linearly (front-to-back) and laterally (side-to-side) and the ability to start / stop quickly can be a deal breaker. This Speed and Agility Package addresses this by focusing on proper landing mechanics and deceleration, linear and lateral acceleration and first step quickness.  Thus, training first-step quickness and change-of-direction speed as well as improving mobility, strength and deceleration mechanics are the focal points of this speed development program.  The following is an outline of the programming:

Mini Ankle Bands are great for use at home, in the gym or on the field. They are most often used in performance training to activate the glutes prior to performing bigger lifts or when strength training younger less experienced athletes. Also great for to strengthening the posterior chain while rehabbing a hamstring or knee.

Stopwatches are used for training and calculating speed as well as tracking progress in drills where hundredths of a second matter. Great for use when looking for pinpoint accuracy that is otherwise not possible with a larger, cumbersome cell phone.  Small size allows it to be held while performing drills without a coach.
